Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano was born on September 15, 1972, in Oviedo, Spain. Her father, Jesús José, was a journalist and her mother, Maria, was a nurse.
Letizia was baptised on 29 September 1972 in the Catholic church in Oviedo.
She completed her primary education at 'La Gesta School' in Oviedo. After her family moved to Rivas-Vaciamadrid, she went to the 'Ramiro de Maeztu Secondary School'.
Her vocation for journalism came early. When her father was the director of Radio Antena 3, she presented, together with other classmates, the children's programme El Columpio.
Between 1992 and 1993 she was an intern at the Nueva España newspaper in Oviedo, working in the areas of economics, television and show business. Later she worked for the newspaper ABC and for the EFE news agency where she worked on the international edition.
She graduated in journalism from the 'Universidad Complutense de Madrid'. Subsequently, she took her Master's degree in 'Audiovisual Journalism' from the 'Institute for Studies in Audiovisual Journalism.'
She contributed to the payment of her studies by working at the newspaper 'La Nueva España'. She also worked at the newspaper 'ABC' and 'EFE', a news agency.
Leticia's television career began at Bloomberg TV in Spanish, where she would specialise in economic information, a career she would then continue at CNN+, where she worked for two years.
Letizia moved to Guadalajara, Mexico and started her career working at the newspaper 'Siglo 21' . After some time, she returned to Spain and started working for the 'Bloomberg' news channel. After that she moved to the news channel 'CNN +'.
In 2000, he worked for the Spanish news channel, '24 Horas'. That year, he also reported live from Washington DC on the US presidential elections.
In September 2001, he reported from ground zero in New York after the September 11 attacks.

Awards and Achievements
In 2000, Queen Letizia of Spain was awarded the 'Larra' prize as 'the most distinguished young journalist of the year' by the 'Madrid Press Association for her coverage of the war in Iraq.
On May 21, 2004, on the eve of her marriage to Prince Philip VI, she became a dame of the 'Grand Cross of the Royal and Illustrious Order of Charles III'.
In 2015, she was appointed by the 'Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations' as 'Special Ambassador for Nutrition'.
